The Equine Challengers

Hi I and my hubby operate a non profit center in New Smyrna Beach Florida.

We are in need of Volunteers more that anything to keep these kids riding. My husband and I have just recently purchased the 3 acres next to our center, and our dream is to be able to build a small covered arena, with the help of the community if possible to be able to let these kids ride year round. The kids miss alot of riding time from the heat of the sun or the rainy season.

Hereos On Horseback

Heroes On Horseback, a therapeutic riding program in the Sav/Hilton Head area, provides the benefits of horses & riding to both the physically and the mentally disabled. We are a NARHA operating center working toward accreditation. Since we just began the program, we are looking for donated tack in good condition (safety, not aesthetics is the important factor). You could call them heroes on horseback, a group of men, women & children conquering their fears and disabilities to sample a taste of independence. Riding horseback can help all types of people meet and overcome physical, mental or psychological barriers.

Heroes On Horseback, a nonprofit adaptive riding program, provides this experience for the disabled in our area through horseback riding lessons, trains volunteers assisting in the program & engages in other equine activities which improve the quality of life for the disabled. These services are offered without regard to race, color or creed. Individuals in a wide range of ages & disabilities can benefit from therapeutic horseback riding and other equine activities. The types of disabilities and conditions include:

Hearing impairment
Learning disabilities

Shade tent/canopy

We Can Ride, therapy riding for the disabled. NARHA certified, the largest operation of it's kind in Minnesota with 4 locations and well over 40 horses in the program. All disabilities accepted, all levels of riders. Shows, rideathons, and more. They also have a website. http://www.wecanride.org

The Stanford Polo Club, Stanford, CA. A nonprofit organization that allows students to learn how to ride and play polo on the collegiate level. The club maintains approximately 18 horses, all of which are donations. The club relies heavily upon donations of horses and tack and also upon monetary support. The club is open to all students and accepts all comers, whether they have never ridden before or have years of experience. The club is always looking to accept horses with polo experience. Tack is always welcome, and turnout blankets are eagerly accepted. The horses live in a large field year round, so any donated turnout blankets are very gratefully accepted. Any donation made to the club is tax deductible.

We are in need of anything you would wish to donate!! Horses, tack, care equipment, raffle prizes, old trophies (our riders love receiving them). We have been in business for 20 years. We serve various disabilities and at-risk youth. We have been growing by leaps and bounds. Our small rural area makes it difficult to get funding and/or donations. Discovery Riders, Inc.

We are a 501 c.3 non-profit organization started in October 1999 to provide hippotherapy and therapeutic riding lessons. We have 4 part time physical and occupational therapists, and 1 part time NARHA level one riding instructor. We operate at two locations because we don't have a home of our own yet. We have three horses of our own for hippotherapy and borrow 4 others for riding lessons. We need saddle pads, saddles, bridles, lead ropes, grooming tools, buckets, ...actually almost anything for horses and riders.

We are Charities 4 Children

A non-profit organization based in Lexington, NC. Our volunteers are people who love horses and we use that love to raise money for children's charities in our area be putting on a yearly event called "A Weekend in the Country for Kids!" This year it will be April 29th & 30th and will benefit Koppertop Therapeutic Riding Center, Horse Power Therapeutic Riding Center and Camp Carefree. We will have a benefit Trail Ride, Benefit Horse Show, and Benefit Dog Show plus a benefit auction during our festivities and would appreciate any donations!

There are many Girl Scout owned camps that have a summer riding program (these usually lease horses) or a year round facility that owns horses and equipment. These places do need tack and supplies for the day to day girl instruction, horse care, and training.

I work and volunteer for the year round facility (in Wildwood, FL) run by the Heart of Florida Girl Scout Council (office in Lakeland, FL). This facilty services not only the local suurounding 7 counties, but also scouts from as far away as New York State and Miami, FL.      We are presently setting up a partnership with the local Police Athletic League, The young Marines, First Choice. In the future 4-H wants to be involved, and use our facilities since the now have to drive so far. Right now it is for disadvantaged youth. In this process we want to expand to handicapped. We also would like to set aside a day for amputees, head injury, stroke patients.

      Our goal at present is to get up a covered arena before Fall. We are hoping for one of those arenas that use a steel frame with a covering sort of like a tarp. We then can get another group to put it up for Make A Difference Day.  On our page is a link with a woman's face. University Equestrian Club, Inc.

    We are the University Equestrian Club, Inc., a 501C3 non-profit riding club for college students in the Knoxville, TN area. We are located at House Mountain Farm about 20 minutes from the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) campus. House Mountain Farm has 140 acres, a 100' x 120' lighted fenced riding arena, a standard size dressage arena, miles of trails and cross country jumps. We are a very unique organization. As a member of the club, college students pay a monthly fee of $35 and can ride 6 days a week! Students/ members do not have to own or lease a horse or even have their own tack. We have them --it is just like joining the gym!

    We are in need of lesson horses, 15.2H - 16.2H, any breed, 5-11 yrs old that are good with beginners. We cheerfully accept donations, pending approval and vet check. I can guarantee donated horses will receive the best of care and a ton of love.

     We also have a standard dressage ring; cross-country jumps from beginner novice to pre-lim levels; trails on House Mountain, stadium jumps. Liz Green the farm manager has trained with the British Horse Society and provides classical riding instruction at reasonable fees. Stall and pasture boarding is also available. Members who do not own or lease a horse have a dozen horses to ride, take to shows or foxhunt. We keep 2 of the best farriers in East Tennessee busy and the University of Tennessee Veterinary Hospital is on call. Horses donated to us get the best of care and a whole lot of love.

Phoenix Equine Foundation, A National Heritage Foundation

       We are the Phoenix Equine Foundation, A National Heritage Foundation. We are based in Fremont where we take in primarily injured & older horses &rehabilitate them to participate in a riding program with teenage girls. The girls take care of the horses under the direction of Teri Rohm. We currently have 15 horses and it is really expensive to take care of them properly. The girls raise money by putting on horse shows & we also take in tack & sale it when possible, sometimes we use it. I think that we are doing a really great job with these horses. Many are sport horses that were injured by overuse. The ones that need to be retired, are put in pasture in the Sierras under the supervision of the Chuck Mills School of Horsemanship. The kids raise money to help take care of these horses too.  Any help that we could get would be greatly appreciated.

CC Horse Talk Association

About nine years ago, we started the CC Horse Talk Association for the area youth. What began as just a few kids and parents has grown to a group of over 32 kids and 21 sets of parents. Through determination and hard work, we have managed to take this little group to new levels of self-esteem. Many of our original kids grown up or moved away to go on to college and/or rewarding careers. Not one of our kids has gotten in trouble with the law or the community. In fact, most of our kids have become honor students since joining the group!

Through the years we have gotten the kids involved in the community through roadside trash pickups, adopt-a-grandparent, nursing home visits, plays, trail rides, horse shows, camping trips, ice skating, caroling, crafts, elderly gift giving and many other activities too numerous to count!

Recently, we have begun to involve an even larger part of our surrounding communities by starting a series of open shows and monthly mounted meetings free to the public. The response has been great!

We are a non-profit organization and any items or donations that you could supply us with would be tax deductible. We would greatly appreciated any contribution you could make and you would have the satisfaction of knowing that your item was helping keep a few kids involved in the community.

Every member of our community plays a valuable role, and we want to help them in every way possible. With the help of tack or equine donations, we can continue this positive move towards a safe and happy future for our kids.
